Red Sox sign Carlos Delgado to minor league deal

The banged-up Boston Red Sox have signed free agent slugger Carlos Delgado into a minor league agreement.

The 38-year-old Delgado hasn't played inside majors because May possibly 2009 for your New York Mets. He has had two hip surgeries because then.

Delgado is set to report to Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday. He performed winter ball in Puerto Rico during the offseason prior to hip problems slowed him.
